This wallpaper features a Giant Qilin lantern — the dragon-like auspicious creature of Chinese mythology, standing above a festival crowd with its deer body, dragon head, and curling tail lit in gold, green and red. The Qilin is one of the most elaborate figures in our mythological lantern range, and this image shows it at the moment of full illumination. The Qilin carries deep cultural meaning — it is the symbol of prosperity and good fortune in Chinese tradition, appearing only when a sage is born or a great era begins. Festivals place it at the entrance or central square precisely because of this meaning. For international venues, the Qilin is the creature that makes a festival feel authentically Chinese — it is not a dragon, not a horse, but something in between that visitors have never seen before. Building the Qilin is one of the more complex jobs in the workshop. The deer body requires fine sculpting of the legs and hooves, the dragon head needs the jaw and horn structure shaped correctly, and the scales and mane are hand-applied over several days of painting. The tail is a separate module that can be made to curl, and the whole figure stands on a steel base with internal LED lighting in gold to bring out the auspicious colour. Venues choose the Qilin for cultural festivals, Chinese New Year displays, and as a centrepiece that photographs dramatically from every angle.
