League of Legends Themed Lantern Installation — Steampunk Mecha Display
IP & Character Lanterns
An IP lantern build is a manufacturing job around someone else's design language — the brief is to get the character right, not to interpret it.
What an IP build actually requires
Licensed character installations are built to approved artwork. The workshop's job is to hold the character's proportions, colours and identifying features exactly, while solving the structure, the lighting and the site engineering that the artwork does not address. That is a different discipline from original design, where interpretation is the point.
In practice the constraint is approval: colour references, silhouette checks and finish samples are signed off before production, so the piece that ships matches what the rights holder approved.
Where themed installations get placed
Game and film IP installations are usually commissioned for a campaign window rather than a permanent trail: a launch, an anniversary, a seasonal event, a retail promotion. That changes the engineering — demountable builds, faster installation, and a structure that can tour are usually more valuable than a permanent one.
They are also placed where the audience already is. A game IP belongs where the players walk, which is often a city centre, a mall or a convention space rather than a park trail.
Licensing and what the client provides
The client holds the licence; we manufacture to approved designs and work under NDA. What we need from the client side is the approved artwork set, the colour references, the character features that must not deviate, and any restrictions on depiction.
We do not reproduce licensed characters without the client confirming rights. That is a hard line, and it protects the client as much as us.
Build approach for themed work
Themed pieces are built as a set of shaped surfaces over a welded frame, with the character's features built as structure where they carry recognition and as finish where they do not. Lighting is designed to support the character's palette rather than to show off the light itself, because the reference is the artwork, not the installation.
Outdoor builds use outdoor-rated modules; indoor and touring builds favour modular sections and demountable joints.
