Indoor Ceiling Lantern Installation — Lotus Medallion with Suspended Koi
Most indoor spaces have one large surface nobody uses: the ceiling. This indoor ceiling lantern installation turns it into the show. A painted lotus medallion anchors the middle of the ceiling, koi and butterfly lanterns hang beneath it at different depths, and the ceiling field around them carries a woven cloud pattern that keeps the eye moving outward.
The medallion is the fixed point. Everything else is arranged around its centre line, which means the installation can be adapted to a square hall, a round atrium or a long gallery without redesigning the pattern.
Indoor work has its own rules. Nothing here is exposed to weather, so the design brief shifts to heat, weight and maintenance access: how the load reaches the structure above, how the LED modules are reached when one needs replacing, and how much clearance the suspended pieces need above head height.

Where This Display Works
Mall Atriums and Voids
The installation fills air that retail space otherwise wastes and stays visible from several floors at once, which is what makes an atrium feel like a destination rather than a corridor.
Hotel Lobbies and Banquet Halls
A medallion ceiling above a lobby seating area or a banquet floor gives the room a centre without adding floor furniture, which keeps the room flexible for events.
Cultural Centres and Museums
Lotus and cloud patterns sit naturally in a Chinese cultural gallery, and a suspended installation can carry the theme without a single object standing on the floor.
Exhibition Halls and Pavilions
The set can be built for a fixed run or as a demountable version that packs flat between seasons.
Key Features
Painted Ceiling Medallion
The lotus medallion is built as a framed panel with hand-painted petals, so the colour stays even across the full width and the pattern reads from directly below.
Layered Suspension
Koi and butterflies hang at two or three different depths. That layering is what separates a ceiling installation that looks designed from objects hung at one height.
Cloud-Pattern Ceiling Field
The surrounding field is built in sections so it can follow the shape of a room, wrap around a beam, or stop at a dropped ceiling edge.
Structure-Led Suspension Design
Suspension points are laid out against the structure above before anything is made. We work from the venue’s drawings or a site survey, and the venue engineer confirms the available load.
Reachable Light Modules
Modules sit in serviceable positions within the frames. A single unit can be reached and replaced without dismantling the medallion or the ceiling field.
Low-Heat Indoor LED and UL/CE Components
Indoor-rated LED modules run cool for a ceiling run, and all lighting and power components are UL/CE listed.

FAQ
Does the ceiling need reinforcing?
It depends on the structure and on the size of the installation. We design to the load the venue engineer confirms, and if the capacity is limited we reduce section weights or spread the suspension points across more of the ceiling.
How do we know if the ceiling height is workable?
Send the ceiling height, the floor area and any drawings. As a guide, the installation normally wants at least 1 m of clear air above the suspended pieces and enough room below for the medallion to be seen from the far side of the room.
Can it be built for a ceiling that is not square?
Yes. The medallion is circular and sets the centre, and the surrounding field is built in sections so it follows rectangular, curved or interrupted ceiling shapes.
How is maintenance handled?
Light modules are set in reachable positions within the frames. On a high ceiling we agree the access method with the venue in advance, whether that is a working platform, a lighting truss or an existing catwalk.
Can the colours be programmed?
The medallion can hold a steady warm wash while the suspended pieces run their own sequence, or the whole installation can be programmed to run as one show.
Is a demountable version available?
Yes. A demountable build is available for exhibition halls, temporary pavilions and seasonal runs, using sections that pack flat between events.
How do we start a project?
Send the ceiling height, the floor plan, photographs of the structure and your dates. We return a free 3D concept of the installation for the space and a proposal for the build.
