Unicorn Lantern is built around a unicorn in graded colour with a spiralled horn. Like every piece we make, it starts from the position it will occupy rather than from a catalogue photograph: the height, the surface and the distance a visitor stands at all feed into the frame.
The horn and the mane are the two elements that separate a unicorn from a horse form. Construction follows our standard build: a welded internal frame, a lit surface worked per section, and wiring installed and tested before release.
Where it works
Cultural figures are placed where the meaning has to be read without any text. That usually means an entrance, a threshold or the head of a route, where the silhouette is seen before the detail and the visitor has time to look. The proportions are set for that viewing distance, not for a photograph.
