A Literati Scene Drawn from the Orchid Pavilion Gathering
This poet lantern scene brings one of Chinese literature’s most famous gatherings to light: a scholar in flowing robes reclines among glowing bamboo, wine cup in hand, beside an illuminated calligraphy scroll quoting the Orchid Pavilion Preface (Lanting Xu). It is a cultural storytelling piece — the kind of scene that gives an international audience a genuine encounter with Chinese literati tradition, not just decoration.
Built to order in our Zigong workshop, the scene composition, calligraphy content, figure pose and bamboo density are all customisable to your venue’s cultural programme and footprint.

How the Scene Is Built
The build begins with the composition: the scholar figure’s pose, the scroll text and layout, and the bamboo density that frames them. Fine-figure work comes first — the face, hands and drapery are sculpted and painted for the distance your visitors will actually stand at — then the scroll stele and bamboo grove are built around it so the layers read as one scene rather than separate pieces. Lighting is tuned scene-wide before packing: the scroll glows evenly for legibility, the bamboo carries a cooler tone, and the figure holds a warm centre so photographs balance without editing.
