Gibbon Lantern is built around a gibbon with long arms in a hanging pose. Like every piece we make, it starts from the position it will occupy rather than from a catalogue photograph: the height, the surface and the distance a visitor stands at all feed into the frame.
Long arms are what identify a gibbon, so the pose is built around them rather than added afterwards. Construction follows our standard build: a welded internal frame, a lit surface worked per section, and wiring installed and tested before release.
Where it works
Animal forms carry a theme into the parts of a site a single feature cannot reach: the corner of a plaza, the gap between two stalls, the strip of grass beside a path. That is why they are usually specified as a small group at two or three scales rather than one large piece, and why the ground-level pieces matter as much as the landmark.
